Let's Talk About Sex (Ed) - WPATH
How the advent of sexual educational material in the 20th century has come to full fruition today
If you don’t know what WPATH is, I envy you. Unfortunately, you’re about to find out.
The World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) is inaptly named, in that its members are far from professionals and they provide anything but healthcare. The organization (originally called the Harry Benjamin International Gender Dysphoric Association when it was founded in 1979) states that its mission is to “promote evidence based care, education, research, public policy, and respect in transgender health.” Again, not a very accurate choice of words, as will become apparent.
WPATH President-elect Marci Bowers, who performed Jazz Jennings’s gender reassignment surgery for reality TV, recently admitted to the fact that puberty blockers have been voiding patients of sexual desire and function. Interestingly, Bowers is also quite outspoken about how much of the transgender craze is due to social contagion, and has spoken against the suppression of “de-transitioners.” Yet, despite some of Bowers’s more reasonable views on gender ideology relating to children, WPATH recently released their Standards of Care 8th Version (SOC8) this month, one of the most radical publications on gender ideology to date.
SOC8 recommends “sex hormone treatment regimens as part of gender-affirming treatment for eligible transgender and gender diverse adolescents who are at least Tanner Stage 2” (TS2 is ages 9-11). Regarding parents, SOC8 recommends parental/guardian involvement, “unless their involvement is determined to be harmful or unnecessary to the adolescent.” There is no mention of who or what will be the grand arbiter of whether parents are “harmful or unnecessary” to their children. Later, on the topic of parents who may be “antagonistic” to their child’s identity, SOC8 says nothing other than that, “over time with support and psychoeducation,” parents can become “increasingly accepting of their child’s gender diversity.” In other words, parents are more of an accessory in their children’s lives than anything else; they are removed when their parental judgement conflicts with the narrative, and replaced once they’ve been coerced into agreement.
Canadian father Rob Hoogland was arrested over a year ago under this very same reasoning, when he refused to affirm his 16-year-old daughter’s belief that she is a transgender boy; her transition was initiated without Hoogland’s knowledge or consent. Hoogland was then put under a gag order by Canadian courts meant to prevent him from speaking out publicly about this issue. Texas father Jeff Younger experienced a similar violation of his parental and civil rights during his legal battle for custody of his two sons; Younger’s ex-wife claimed that one of their sons was transgender, prompting an official state investigation into the case that resulted in Younger losing custody of both his children (Younger is now running for office in the Texas House of Representatives).
Of course, the subversion of parental rights and the perversion of children’s innocence is nothing new in our collapsing empire. As many know, sex ed has been rampant in schools since the 20th century, though some may not have guessed how early; pamphlets and literature about reproduction and pregnancy were being handed out in public schools as early as 1912, and eventually the American Medical Association developed a standardized curriculum for sex ed in the 1950s. Discussions around the issue of sex ed often devolve to a fully-informed approach versus an abstinence-only approach, with not enough mention of an entirely nonexistent approach where parents are the sole instructor in these matters.
Heavily-funded sex ed subsidies began to flood public schools in the 1970s, as famed economist and public education critic Thomas Sowell pointed out in Forbes magazine. Supporting governmental programs have emerged since then, such as the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program (TPPP). Advocates for sex ed often like to claim that informing children about sex helps prepare them and reduce risk of unsafe sex or unplanned pregnancies; however, mandatory sex ed has in fact caused an increase in teen pregnancy. Funnily enough, it seems that teaching children to become prematurely fixated on sex and to view it as an utterly inane exchange between two apathetic parties causes more problems than it solves.
Planned Parenthood would love for you to believe otherwise, frequently boasting that they are the nation’s largest provider of sexual education and that sex ed is necessary for good sexual health choices. But how likely is it that an organization which performs over 300,000 abortions a year at $500 to $791 a pop is earnestly trying to reduce unplanned pregnancies? In case you were wondering, those figures net out to roughly $150 million per year at minimum.
Planned Parenthood, like WPATH, has since found even more innovations in the field of perverting youth under the guise of health via their plan to open clinics in high schools throughout California. This move came after their direct involvement in the changes to California’s sex ed curriculum to include material with cartoon illustrations of genitalia, descriptions of bondage, and more.
As if the education system in California wasn’t already at an all-time low, Fremont High School announced their new “transition closet” program this year, which would subvert parental rights even further. The closet is filled with clothes tailored to both genders, which allows children to change out of the clothes their parents drop them off in, and into clothes for the opposite gender to wear throughout the day.
Even outside of California, other stories involving gender ideology run rampant. A judge in Virginia recently dismissed a lawsuit against the book “Gender Queer,” which contains graphic images and descriptions depicting sexual acts and masturbation. The dismissal will protect “Gender Queer” in public libraries and schools. Meanwhile, Trafalgar High School in Canada recently defended a male teacher who insists on wearing cartoonish, egregiously-oversized prosthetic breasts underneath a tight t-shirt, claiming that the school “strives to promote a positive learning environment,” with “equitable treatment without discrimination.” How equitably will Trafalgar High School treat students who dare to question or deride the school’s defense of a perverted educator?
Radical gender ideology actually had quite a rich history before it made its way into schools. New Zealand-American doctor John Money, largely regarded as the father of modern gender theory, sought to normalize cross-dressing and transsexuality in his experimentations on David Reimer in the 1960s and 1970s. Reimer was a male born with defective genitalia who was forced to be raised as a girl by Money, without ever being told of his biological sex, until he eventually rejected the imposed identity and asserted his male sex. Reimer struggled with severe depression for decades after the experiments until he eventually committed suicide.
Before Money was Alfred Kinsey, a sexologist in the first half of the 20th century who is perhaps best known for developing the Kinsey Scale. Kinsey argued that infant orgasm, which he had claimed to observe, should not be considered abnormal; he felt the same way about pedophilia, rape, and bestiality.
WPATH’s newest standards of “care” ought to be the wakeup call to end all wakeup calls for parents who still enroll their children in public schools. The public education system, as many well-informed critics will rightly point out, is not broken; it’s doing exactly what it’s supposed to do. It has been trying to subvert parental rights, pervert the minds of its pupils, and utterly diminish our society since 1912. WPATH’s SOC8 is only the most recent in a long line of organized efforts to achieve this goal.
With several states discussing the stark benefits of school choice, as well as candidates discussing public education funding cuts, it is critical that we empower these alternatives and discourage public education. Education governed by WPATH, Planned Parenthood, and public sex ed can only lead to our children becoming property of the state.
